Experiments

We focus on initiating and running projects focused on experimenting responsible uses of digital technologies as well as regenerative materials. We work in multidisciplinary teams, bringing together artists, researchers and businesses in efforts to develop art-driven innovations. Our experiments follow either a care path to innovation, focusing on value drivers as empowering people, improving safety and increasing transparency or a green path to innovation, focusing on value drivers as reduce waste, efficient use of resources and cleaner production. In the end, we aim for actionable innovation proposals based on long term goals by following our self-developed art-driven innovation methodology and PESETABS analysis.

We are involved in individual experimental projects, as well as in European collaborative programs, in which we work with many great collaborators from the worlds of arts, science, technology and industry.

  • Transnational Activation of Simultaneous Touch (TAST) explores how might we communicate touch over a network.

  • Circular project transforming discarded maritime ropes into 3D-printed outdoor furniture. By connecting logistics, recycling, and design, it shows how waste can fuel sustainable urban innovation — cutting CO2 emissions and reducing virgin plastic use.

  • Collaborative program with 19 art-driven innovation projects to effectively explore how digital technologies & AI applications can lead in turn to reduced food waste, more sustainable value chains, eco-friendly attitudes, and more ethical food consumption. How can we develop ways of creating a more healthy, sustainable, and affordable agri-food system for all?

  • Collaborative program between 8 Regional S+T+ARTS Centers from 5 different countries with 10 art-driven innovation projects on the themes: interspecies urban ecosystems and Human-AI ecosystems. The purpose of the projects is to explore innovative and responsible uses of AI technologies in the context of the city or the body.

  • NoBo Games is het spelletjesbedrijf van twee Overschiese broers met als eerste spel op de markt Kobbel! Een gezellig dobbelspel.

  • Grassroots brings together startups, farmers, researchers, and designers to co-create circular solutions for the Dutch food system. Through Minimum Viable Ecosystems (MVEs), the project shows how design and business can work hand in hand to drive sustainable change.

  • An artificial data organ, which reflects on how might we increase health and beauty on the outside of our bodies.

  • Explores notions around micro-rewilding in ‘the city’ from a lichen-eye point of view to reimagine nature in the city.

  • Collaborative program between 12 Regional S+T+ARTS Centers from 11 different countries with 21 art-driven innovation projects on challenges derived from the European Green Deal.

  • A future vision on how the exponential storage capacity growth of DNA data storage could look like.

  • It offers a unique Internet of Things (IoT) solution to fully integrate the sphincter muscle in everyday living.

  • 16 art-driven experiments towards a more efficient, green and robotics/software enabled manufacturing process.

  • Provides tools and information to help encourage individuals and organizations to reduce their digital CO2 footprint.

  • The role of plastic (PET & PLA) in the economy, the case for local production chains and the potential of digital manufacturing.

  • Explores the creation of fair and just labor conditions in the repair sector, a crucial element of our circular economy transition.
